A Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor is most commonly known as a MAP sensor. The sensor can sense engine load while the vehicle's computer uses this information to make adjustments for ignition timing and fuel enrichment. When this part fails, it often leads to a rough idle, increased fuel consumption due to rich fuel, or premature fouling on the spark plug.
